A beautiful sprawling brick home was left vacant for years during an unfortunate bank foreclosure. It was left to get moldy, dark, and overall filthy. The new owners had a monumental task of getting the house back in working order. While the owners were busy tackling projects inside the home, they chose Awesome Exteriors to do the heavy lifting outside.

Old House — Homer City, PA — Awesome Exteriors Pressure Washing LLC

The exterior brick work had areas of deep green and black mold that needed power washed. There were challenges around the house due to the home having steel gutters that would easily discolor if they came in contact with typical soft wash soap. We were able to sanitize the outside and care for the patina on the gutters. This restored the original look that the builders intended and maintained the grandeur of the home.

The basement access ramp had fallen into disarray as well. The ramp is flanked on both sides by a retaining wall that was almost completely covered in moss. We removed all the organic material revealing the beautiful masonry underneath.

The front sidewalk, driveway, and pool patio had not been cleaned or sealed in many years. Dirt was allowed to accumulate, mold and algae were left to colonize on concrete. This ruined the appearance and strength of the top layer. We first treated the mold and algae on top of the concrete by sanitizing the surface. This helps break the bond it has on the concrete, allowing us to use less pressure on the concrete to clean it. This makes a huge difference in protecting the masonry by only removing the dirt and organic material on top, not the cement or aggregate itself. Once all the concrete on the property was clean, it was sealed with our natural looking penetrating sealer for years of continuing protection against the elements.

Lastly, a custom canvas awning on the back patio was saved from destruction by the cleaning power of our soft wash soap. Instead of being taken down during the foreclosure, the cloth awning remained erect and left to suffer a few winters without being cleaned. A simple application of soft wash mix removed all the mold and moss growing on the fabric and saved the homeowners from a costly replacement of what would have been a difficult to find custom item.

The customers were extremely happy with the cleaning and sealing. They were also massively relieved to have so much work completed in one day. This alleviated what would have been months worth of weekends toiling away trying to clean a property that would not yield easily from a their attempts. They also avoided possible permanent damage to exterior flashing and gutters by choosing a company experienced in all exterior materials. Overall, we gave the owners peace of mind, and The ability to focus on other projects inside. We transformed the home from a neglected foreclosure, to the stunning manor house it is.
